Electric Vehicles : The Upcoming Revolution

The future of automobiles is electric. The upcoming revolution of automobile industry is in electric energy vehicles. The main advantages of electric vehicles are, they are fast, efficient, lightweight, zero pollution and so on. The era of fossil fuel automobiles are not so long. Maybe at 2030 all vehicles will be of electric.

The architecture of electric vehicles is so simple. A power storage battery, an induction motor. Normally the batteries are made by making bundles of small cells arranged in series. They are placed bottom centered to have maximum center of mass to make the handling easier. Usually brush less DC induction motors are used to power the vehicle. They have high efficiency and output.

The revolution electric production vehicles started from 2010 by Nissan. The car was a huge success in the market. It sold more than 200,000 units. Then the electric vehicle market got expanded by the entry of Tesla Motors. The family car industry become super car industry. Tesla Motors introduced Model S which is an electric super car capable of reaching 0 - 100 kmph  in just 3.2 seconds and have a top speed of 250 kmph. The car has beaten many gasoline powered super cars. Then many automobile companies entered the electric car market mainly Mercedes Benz, Audi, Porsche and many more. As the industry get crowded many new technologies are discovered to provide maximum power and efficiency to the vehicle.

The main con of electric vehicles was charging time. But this problem solved by using super capacitors and super charging stations. These super charging stations are provided by respective company. Then the technologies provided in cars increased. Range and acceleration of electric cars increased. Now the fastest accelerating car in the world is Tesla New Roadster capable of reaching 0 - 100 in just 2.1 seconds and top speed above 400 kmph.

Now the commercial automobile industries are also started to use electric power making the commercial automobile industry more efficient and low cost. People started to welcome the electric powered vehicles and we can see the future is near.

It’s called Pininfarina Battista. Pininfarina says it is the world’s first pure electric luxury hyper GT. It is named after Battista Farina founder of Pininfarina SpA.
